Keswick Convention 2024 welcomed new and returning visitors to Keswick this week to begin the first of three weeks of engaging Bible teaching and worship run by Keswick Ministries in the heart of the Lake District.
The first week of the annual event welcomed a host of speakers exploring different topics around this year’s theme – Resurrection – including morning Bible Reader David Gibson, exploring the book of Isaiah.
During his opening talk, David Gibson highlighted the depth of the Old Testament links to the resurrection of Jesus, stating that “all three [weekly Bible Readers] independently chose Old Testament books to teach the theme of Resurrection, because every part of scripture points to the good news of the Lord Jesus in his life, death and resurrection.”
Over the next couple of weeks, Andrew Sach will speak on the book of Ezekiel and Vaughan Roberts will speak on the Psalms, along with many more speakers continuing the teaching theme of the Resurrection.
The annual, three-week Convention, which has been running for 149 years, will bring together thousands of Christians of all generations over the next few weeks both in Keswick and via livestream worldwide.
The Oatridge family have attended the Convention for the last seven years and commented “There are so many things we love about Keswick Convention, hence why we keep returning each year. It’s a stunning place to have a holiday and it’s free so all can come no matter their finances, you can go to whatever you like. I love that the vision from Keswick convention is that everyone is to be able to attend.”
The Convention hosts a separate programme for Keswick Kids (3-11 years) and Keswick Youth (11-18 years), as well as 19-24’s track and in Week 1, Count Everyone In, for adults with learning disabilities.
Paul Oatridge continued: “the youth work has been fantastic with relevant and engaging topics and bible teaching. Our three kids absolutely love their programme; they love the singing, the games, the friendships made over the week, their leaders, the gunge, the memory verses.”
The Convention continues until 2 August with a new series of speakers beginning on Saturday 20 July. The event is open for everyone to attend (children and youth programmes require registration) and can be joined online via the @keswickconvention YouTube livestream.
The full event programme and livestream can be found on the Keswick Ministries website along with more information about the ministry and year-round resources for Christians.
