Questions about same-attraction and the demand for the Church to validate same-sex unions has occupied and divided believers over the past decade. It is a hot topic that is not going away.
In this brief book Rebecca McLaughlin applies her razor-sharp mind to exploring 10 questions that counter the suggestion that the Bible when addressing this topic is not speaking concerning loving, faithful same-sex unions, but rather is dealing with non-consensual exploitative relationships.
The author covers all the Scriptural ground and masterfully unfolds the integrated counter-argument of Scripture. The arguments are honest, clear, and, in my view, convincing.
Yet what makes this little book especially poignant are the stories the author tells of her own and many of her friends dealing with same-sex attraction in their own lives.
The author’s ability to navigate this topic with biblical faithfulness and an “insider’s understanding” of same-sex attraction enhances the pastoral usefulness of this book.
Sometimes the message that same-sex attracted people hear is that they might need to accept the booby prize of singleness. In this book the author argues that the gospel offers us such treasure in Christ that we can joyfully lay down anything else for him and the gospel.
